Overseas Work
I have undertaken regular surgical charity work in Nepal, India, Myanmar and Bangladesh. Initially this was undertaking ear camps, operating in the war zones of Nepal and helping those with little or no access to medical care for their Cholesteatomas and the causes of ear infections. This was done with the International Nepalese Fellowship (INF) who have now been been able to build a specialist ear hospital in Pokura as the country is at peace and patients can travel for treatment.
More recently I have been undertaking surgery in Myanmar (Burma) as it has gradually opened its borders to the rest of the world. In 2018 I visited Myanmar to give workshops on surgical training on behalf of the RCSEd.
I have been Registered by the Nepalese Medical Council, The Indian Medical Council and Myanmar Medical Council.
The Swinton trust provides internet based advice to developing countries surgeons to help with specific cases and I help with this.
UK Charities
I set up a charitable trust to provide training in Ear surgery in Merseyside This has helped train over 200 UK trainees and many more overseas trainees in operative ear surgery and has recently expanded to provide training in head and Neck surgery and Laser Cancer Surgery.
I have been a trustee of three medical charities in the UK.
